What is TEMBO KABUKI?
The origin of the term “kabuki” comes from the Japanese term “kabuku,” which means “to behave and dress oddly.”
With its roots in the dancing of so-called “kabukimono” who performed and dressed eccentrically,
kabuki in its modern iteration has retained those roots while incorporating various forms of performing arts and trends over time.
TEMBO KABUKI, a product of that spirit of kabuki,
is an entertainment extravaganza brought to you by TOKYO SKYTREE and kabuki company Heisei-Nakamura-Za.
Against the backdrop of a gorgeous night view 350m above ground, an on-screen performance of Kankuro Nakamura dancing a kabuki dance in tune to rock-and-roll music is paired with a video collage of footage showing past father-and-son performances by the late Kanzaburo Nakamura XVIII and his sons Kankuro and Shichinosuke Nakamura, making for a novel entertainment experience that fully showcases the enjoyment of kabuki.
Both first-time and regular patrons of kabuki are sure to leave satisfied.
Come experience this entertainment spectacular for yourself.
